Ortonville in Top 15

This is not actually part of our Park Plan process; however, it does highlight a benefit of our parks.

Ortonville makes it in the top 15 Minnesota – “Enjoy laid back living in these Charming Towns”

Here is the quote that is listed with a Main Street photo:  On the border of Minnesota and South Dakota, this tiny city is perfect for a slow-paced life. It is adjacent to Big Stone Lake, and surrounded by stunning parks. – Link to Article:  http://www.onlyinyourstate.com/minnesota/small-towns-simple-life-mn/

Ortonville Park Plan Work Group Meeting May 25th

The next meeting of the Ortonville Park Plan Work Group is scheduled for:

May 25, 2016 at 4:30 p.m.
Ortonville Library Media Center
(Lower Level of the Ortonville Public Library

At this meeting we will briefly discuss the following topics:

  • Review the “Brief Analysis of the Ortonville Parks” (soils, vegetation, etc.)
  • Discuss the Student Presentations
  • Review the Survey
  • Discuss next steps and general timeline of the Park Plan Process

Final Student Presentations

The final student presentations were given on April 29th in the Ortonville Library’s Media Center.  I’m going to veer off from my usual “official detailed summary” to say the presentations and the possibilities provided by the students were A-W-E-S-O-M-E !  We will be setting the next meeting soon to discuss the possibilities provided by the presentations, the vegetation assessment that was received and the survey results.  I will be sending an e-mail to everyone that has asked to be kept up-to-date on this project so that we can select a day and time that will work best for this next meeting.  The process of creating a plan that will ultimately be approved by the Ortonville Park Board and sent as a recommendation to the City Council will now begin.
